Day 4

The interesting and most appealing element of this image is the stack of candies that is displayed in a massively arranged order and is composed of the colours of the French flag: white, blue and red. I think that this composition has a pyramidical structure for a specific reason and I would like to find out what is its meaning and what the artist meant with the creation of this piece. Moreover, I found this in the MOMA exhibition and it attracted me for the colours and the way it was displayed in the space. This element was located in an angle and the sculpture was perfectly fitting its environment. It reminds me of both an obsessive behaviour of collecting objects just for the pleasure of doing it and it lights up old memories when I uses to throw away all the candies without the wrap because I loved the radiant colours of the covers but I hated the flavours of the sweets. This could also, metaphorically, signify the people that suffer from disturbances and, as a malady, have an extreme compulsion of eating large amount of food which, later, can become unhealthy for them. The reason could be that people don’t feel confident with their own bodies as they are frightened by what society expects from them.
