Inspired By Andrés Kertész: 7/12

Milan and I created a google doc with our presentation!

Here are some of my photos inspired by Kertész:

Kertész created compositions with a high contrast, but still kept the photo looking soft. When I tried to create this image, I made sure the contrast was clear but still kept the image softer rather than too harsh.
Andre Kertész created compositions where he mixed modern with romantic and I thought that the Grand Central Station was a great place to achieve this look because even though it is filled with so many people of the modern era, it still holds that romantic feeling.
After Grand Central Station I walked out side and found a pigeon eating bread. In a famous Kertész photo there were pigeons all in a row with their shadows, so I put my own modern day twist to that photo.
While walking around Washington Square Park after getting off the subway, I found a man juggling for money, and took this still life of his juggling pins. Kertész was known for his simple still lives as well in black and white.
In Washington Square I was able to capture the shadow of a tree onto the grass similar to Kertész’s shadowing in some of his work. I stood on a park bench to try and get a higher angle like Andre however it did not create as much of an impact as I had hoped. I also created a grainier look to the photo by increasing my ISO.
