The design I have chosen is the Ocean Dining newly opened in Haikou, China, where you can have meals under a glass aquarium. This type of place is not a new concept: having surrounded by water and ocean creatures, but this experience had give me new thoughts. Yes, as advertised I get the aquatic environment, and interactions with animals, but at the same time, the “mermaid show” which is a trained employee feeding the sea turtles. The action of forcing turtles, pushing them to the glass in order to let costumers take pictures.
This intricate me to re-think the relationship between the nature and humans. Is it an entertainment? Is this type of shows could educate children or to imply that they have no need to respect the nature and its creatures? Is there a better method presenting? Is it necessary or my kind of thought to hypocrisy to the most?
