What was your initial idea, technically and conceptually? How was it changed in the process?
- Conceptually I intended to create a animation tribute to my thesis topic “ Refugee Crisis: The Collateral Damage of Proxy War”, this animation is particularly about revealing civilian casualties caused by airstrikes. Technically I planned to do a stop motion animation, which turned out to be a combination of stop motion, drawn animation and motion graphics.
What was the most successful aspect of your film?
- The most successful aspects of my film might be the animated cut-outs and the drawings.
What could you have done better?
- I could definitely improve the drawn animations.
Please reflect on what you feel you have learned in the process either about your own creative practice, animation in general or both.
- I feel like I’ve learned a lot about the basic nature of frame by frame animation during the creation of the drawn animation. The process of creating this project has also driven me to try out many different new After Effects techniques, such as the 3D function I wasn’t very familiar with, which turned out to be very useful
