After the meeting with my instructor last week, I decided to redesign the patter of my wallpaper/ toile because me and my instructor both agreed with using Victorian Era history as the background is a better decision.

The story outline of my pattern basically focused on the research questions/ points below.

  • Show the class contrast between the working class and the wealthy class.
  • What the mworking class do to serve/ work for higher class?
  • What are overall class separation during Victorian Era?

The History of Victorian Working Class

The Victorians liked to have their social classes clearly defined. The working class was divided into three layers, the lowest being ‘working men’ or labourer, then the ‘intelligent artisan’, and above him the ‘educated working man’.

Wallpaper Printing Technique: Lino Print

  • Things needs to buy:
    • A piece of lino.
    • Lino cutting tools.
    • Paper.
    • Printing ink (black, white and blue)
    • Smooth surface for rolling out ink.
    • Palette knife.
    • A brayer.
    • A baren
