Statement: In my project I wanted to explore cultural appropriation of Samurais and Japanese traditional culture in American films. I started my project by not only focusing in on films but also looking at physical objects and in the community around us. I found that the most concrete evidence lies in films, and that they also convey the strongest messages.

Process:

– For my process I explored many different ideas on what to do for the film of my project

I explored cosplayers and what they would dress up as in anime conventions or somewhere else

I asked, do cosplayers portray Japanese cultural appropriation ?

I then looked at many films such as House of The Flying Daggers

and many more to see what film would fit my comparison

Before my final I also looking into Japanese Animation Artist Hayao Miyazaki

and what influences he had on me in doing this project
