–What is an overview of the assignment?
Create two printed images based off of a myth and a legend. We used the printmaking lab to do this along with plexiglass.
–What was your process? (Include photos of your work in progress, sketches, etching plates, the finished project prints)
I researched deeper into the myths and legends which I wanted to create. Then I made sketches of what stood out to me most about them. Then I etched them into plexiglass and printed with dark ink to match the themes of my stories.
–Identify the myths and legends and how they influenced your concepts.
I chose coyote spills the stars and Orpheus and Eurydice. I really got into the story of Eurydice and wanted to create an image of her with the snake.
-Describe your experience with the etching technique and how you felt.
At first, I was timid and felt like I was messing up so I stayed simple but as I played around with the technique more I found that it was better to etch more.
-Briefly, what were the good and bad surprises?
(Add more reflection of choice if you desire.)
Printmaking is very messy especially the method we used. I thought the paint was really fun to work with though! I also was very inspired by the stories.
