The piece “Abaporu”, initially called my attention due to the uniqueness in perspective which has always interested me. Something about limbs in the near foreground and the rest of the body seeming way farther away, gives a depth to a piece that strongly appeals to me.

“Security Zone” drew me to it, due to its amazing technique in playing with light. Being a photographer, I am intrigued in seeing other ways of manipulating light to your advantage and this piece not only seems to spark emotions and tell a story, yet also shows mastery in controlling light analogously.

In “Ya Tienen Asiento”, the strangeness of having chairs on the heads of the subjects sparked a curiosity to understand the meaning of the piece itself as well as in retrospect of the artist’s work.

“The Brown Sisters” is a piece part of a lifelong series done by Nicholas Nixon, a series which I have been familiar with more quite some time. The series has always had a special place in my heart, since I feel it relates to the bond I have with my sisters. To see siblings growing up, always by each other’s side for a lifetime is something that a single art piece cannot capture and portrays a truly pure and invaluable relationship.
