Main Materials

First, I made a little hole, where hoop earrings have to go in, on the soda can lids by using every sharp tool that I have. (four lids in total)

1. CHANEL ribbon earrings

Used watercolors to tint ribbon and dried after painting.

I forgot to take process photos for making bow ribbon. I just tied ribbon into bottom hole of soda can lid.

2. Cotton ball with pipe cleaner earrings

I mixed water with few drops of black liquid water color. Then, I soak cotton balls in it and squeezed to make it dry. After making grayish cotton balls, I tangled pipe cleaners on to it.

I attached to soda can lid by tying edge of pipe cleaners.

Reflection

1. Project title: Individual Embellishment
2. I don’t think I have a particular inspiration for this project, but I got inspired when I was thinking for the purpose of wearing it which was to make it big and give impact to others.
3. The function of these earrings is to grab people’s attention. I would recommend wearing this item on special days or when you want to give a point in your outfit because it is very noticeable.
4. I used collected soda can lids and pipe cleaners from last semester class. I also used leftover Chanel ribbon, hoop earrings, and cotton balls.
5. I realized that there are so many possibilities to create something with spending $0 when I carefully look surroundings.
6. The watercolor didn’t smoothly apply to the surface of the ribbon, but I was able to see the color very clearly. In contrast, cotton balls easily absorbed watercolor, but the color didn’t show up strongly.
7. There is no regulation of using materials in my style. I learned that discovering different aspects of materials could help more understanding of elements.
8. Most enjoyable part of the project was using watercolors.
9. The most challenging part was making a little hole on the soda can lid because the lid was tough and durable to make a hole.
10. I am most satisfied with how I applied watercolor into such materials.
11. I learn that I am capable of brainstorming many different ideas when I play with materials. I also realized that I like shiny or colorful items.
