Int. Seminar 2: Reflections

Write a reflection on how the combination of writing this research paper and how it informed your studio project with Wennie.

By writing a final paper in this seminar class, I was able to learn deeply about Audrey Hepburn’s life. Not only her stunning actress life but also behind sufferings and hardships that she went through. Since I know that her turning point of a successful life was taking film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I wanted to highlight her “black dress” in my studio project. For my studio project, I basically kept her signature fashion style in the film: a dress, gloves, and hair accessories. Through writing this research paper, I was even impressed with both of her outer and inner beauty. Also, I got inspired by the quote where it says, “opposite of the 1950s physical and beauty ideal.” Unlike female sex symbols of the 1950s, she was appealing to the female audience through her natural beauty, individual feminine style, and exceptional fashion sense. I thought this fact allows the viewer to believe her as a more prominent figure. Therefore, I wanted to show her pure, innocent and devoted image in my studio project which I decided to make a dress in white color and a combined with black gloves and hair accessories to emphasize her elegance. Overall, I am satisfied with both work on seminar and studio classes, mainly because I think I used efficient sources from the final paper to get inspiration for the studio project.
