Space/Materiality: Clothing Alterations

In this project, we had to create a series of drawings linked to our communal identity. After deciding our designs, we had to translate to small areas on clothing.

For our class, to manage this whole thing, Anna created a google sheet which includes our schedule. We all had four days to complete translating into our clothes.

Since I had a bunch of roses in front of the house in my hometown, I have many memories with roses. Whenever I have lots of things that happen in my life or concerns, I always went to that place to calm down and organize my thoughts. Therefore, I wanted to make a single rose patch and attached to clothes.

Sketches/Reference Image:

1.I first cut out muslin fabric into 17 rectangular pieces.

2. I drew roses on top of those patches and colored with markers.

3. I received clothes from Vee.

4. Then, attatched 17 patches into clothes by hand sawing.

Overall, I am delighted with this project because I put a lot of effort into it. Since I drew the roses by my hand, all 17 pieces have differences even though it looks similar. I like that it has all different shapes because this makes all individually unique. Also, this whole process effectively worked which shows our class cooperation.
