The comparison of something analog versus something digital is drastic. I have created a photo essay displaying the comparison between the experience of music through a digital outlet and music through vinyl. There is no text included, forcing the viewer to compare and contrast the images through a personal lens. Vinyl has recently made a comeback within the past few years, through research I have explored the driving forces behind this sudden resurgence. Tangibility and the physicality of ownership seemed to be the main driving force. With that being said, despite the research being about something audio, creating a photo essay in the form of a book seemed suitable. The book gives you the ability to hold, physically flip through the pages, look at something that is not a screen which connects to the physicality of owning a vinyl. Which outlet would you prefer? Which looks more engaging/intriguing? The overall experience of the two varies in visuals, audio, and physicality. Through this photo essay capturing the digital and analog experience of music, I show the possible driving forces behind the recent resurgence of vinyl.
