2016

Within ETERNIDAD, I created a calendar, which I used to document my relationship with my parents throughout the process of them coming to terms with my sexuality. The calendars were individually created and formatted online and later printed out onto 11 X17 paper. Each calendar is accurate to the month it depicts, and the documentation ranges from 2012-2016. The calendars only show the year and the individual dates of the month. The paper was hand cut, and the X’s were hand drawn on, each paper was nailed to the wall using 4 nails each.
Starting on April 29th, 2012 red X’s are added to the calendar. On this day my parents confronted me about my sexuality. Our opposing thoughts, religions, and beliefs distanced us and I was quickly isolated. The red X’s continue through-out the years 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. The process of creating the calender, marking it and nailing it up was monotonous, physically draining and made me re-live the time passed.
