LA MUERTE
Performance
My Body, Cardboard, Ceramic Seres, Lipstick,
2018
The second of the two performances that I performed on my 22nd birthday, October 2nd 2018
.
A private birthday/funeral for myself, collaborative performance with Sophia Garcia. Using four sheets of cardboard, I reimagined my studio as a funeral altar. With lipstick, I wrote a manifesto/poem on the cardboard, and then laid down nude inside the figure form floor installation recreated from RAICES/APARICIONES INTERNAS. While laying I read the coded poem upside down repeatedly and allowing myself to give/recieve full vulnerability as a healing process
.
Photographs by Sophia Garcia.
Thinking about: color palette, the body is a material, materials being connected through interaction, visual connection between body + material, collaborating through presence + archiving + vulnerability, the identity of the photographer, the presentation/documenation of queer brown latine bodies, reflection statements of performances, fluidity, binary of life and death, rituals, change is queer
