Final Update – Week 2

As up right now, my thesis for my paper is ‘Understanding the rigid parameters of socially accepted performances of sex, gender, and sexuality, this project will attempt to demonstrate how individuals define and find themselves within these borders, sometimes breaking through them to do so.‘ and my current outline for the project is (keeping in mind that I haven’t gotten a chance to start the psychical portion for studio portion)

  • Visuals
    • Photograph individuals
      • Open to all backgrounds, no prejudice
        • Good amount of people who identify as part of the LGBTQA+ community
    • Ask them to write one of the following prompts

          • In terms of how their family accepted them coming out
            • More geared towards parents/legal guardians

      • Colonialism: first conquering (bordering) of a land (Nature/Earth), then conquering (bordering of identities) of its people
        • The second step could not happen without the first because the divisions are made to seem natural as a result of the power of man to dominate Nature.
