For this week, we needed to refine our ideas to specific locations and refine our concepts. A recap of my initial ideas can be found here
Idea 1: Along Wall Street
For the live audio tour idea, I think that installing audio samples along parts of wall street. For example, at the George Washington statue, the user can listen to the history of the area spoken by George Washington and seeing the history from his perspective. Another idea could be that at the stock exchange building, the person narrating the story could be a stock broker or some sort that talk about how the area came up.
Idea 2: High Line between 21st st. and 22nd st.
I chose the High Line for the interactive christmas light show idea because this stretch of the high line is has a lot of trees and having the lights over top the high line and trees, it can create a type of immersive experience.
Idea 3: East River – East River Park and along Williamsburg Bridge
This area of the East River would be ideal for the fish projection idea because people would be able to look from above from the bridge and leisurely at the park. I just think that this might be a good location from viewing the projection from different angles.
Idea 4: Lincoln Center for Performing Arts
For the musical chairs idea, I chose the Lincoln Center for Performing Arts because I thought that it would interesting to put a playful installation in an area for “serious” and “classy” performances. It is a form of art, but they could compliment each other of having fun with music and the sophisticated-ness of performances that play in this area.
