For my place project I chose Washington Square Park. I did lots of research on the history of this location and through all eras found that the park was consistently a lively and chaotic location. I wanted to represent this spirit so I picked a very lively moment from a street performance. I combined this with the Washington Square Park’s history of police conflict with the people in the park and the drug busts that went on. I also included a current element of Washington Square Park which is the Ai Wei Wei instillation under the arch. I wanted the piece to have consistent tones throughout and this is why I stuck with blues and grays.
