I chose to do my Map and Mirror project centered around Isis the goddess of Egypt. Isis is the ancient Egyptian goddess of magic, fertility and motherhood, and death, healing and rebirth. She’s first mentioned first mentioned in the Old Kingdom as main character in the Osiris myth: she resurrects her husband (Osiris) and protects his son, Horus. She was also the mother of four sons with Horus. She is most commonly depicted with the Ankh symbol which symbolizes life. During the New Kingdom she became a more prominent figure than her husband and began being depicted with a sistrum rattle (and Egyptian instrument.)
