Sketchbook Project

For the sketchbook assignment my peer and I sat up a meeting to interview eachother. We gathered up a lot of information about each other and decided our sketchbook would be more random with colors, drawings and collages. We had enough information to make a sketchbook like: favorite colors, movies, books, TV shows, places and a lot more. We managed to divide the sketchbook in half to work on, so that each of us would be responsible for one half of it.

The first page had my peer’s favorite colors, which are orange and red; using coloring markers for it. The second had the most common words she says, which are: Whatever and the spanish word Com que.

This page shows My peer’s favorite movie- Big Fish, Book- The Interestings, and TV show- One Tree Hill. Used tape to give it different, interesting textures.

This shows her favorite food which is Spicy Salmon Hand Roll. I printed out the Salmon roll, then drew the chopsticks and added color to the background using markers. On the right side, a picture of Taj Mahal in India where she really wants to visit. Added some color using Prisma Colors.

On the left side I drew the flags of the two places my peer has lived in. The American flag on top, where she’s living now, with a hole in the middle to write in what she thinks about it. On the bottom, I drew the flag of The Domnican Republic where she used to live ever since she was born, with the same idea I had for the American flag. The background is striped in different directions to show how different those two places are.

The ipod on the left side of the page is one thing she can’t leave the house without. On the right are her best Singers: The beatles, Bob Daylan and Five for Fighting.

If my peer said that if she were to go back in time she would go back to the 70’s. The right side is her happy place which is their house in Spain. It was drawn in a very childish way to show that it’s her favorite as a kid and she had her best memories there, as if she drew it when she was a kid.

This page shows her likes and dislikes. Her likes are on the right side. I used printed pictures and added some happy colors to the background using coloring markers to show the nice things she likes. when on the left side I used dark colors to show the opposite.

Finally, On one side I tried to show her religion which is Catholic by using printed pictures and coloring markers. On the right side, showing my partner’s best talent and hobby, which is drawing zentangles, she drew a page of zentangles in my half.
