Statement:

For this assignment, we had to create a fashion collection; it could be clothes, accessories, or shoes, that in someway represented who you are as a designer. I decided to create an equestrian line. I was born with an innate talent for horseback riding and grew up in a family where horses, discipline and sportsmanship is a forte. I’ve been a horseback rider my entire life, but I’ve always been interested in design. I would always design my competition shirts and have them made with a seamstress .

Before coming to Parsons, I had to differ an entire year because I classified in the Junior Olympic Games in Nanjing, this is where I realized that I would love to eventually create an equestrian line.

So for studio class, I decided to start thinking about my collection.  I want to merge both of my passions for horseback riding and design and create a collection that represents who I am: an athlete and a designer. The collection consists of competition shirts that are elegant yet sporty, urban yet country and most importantly chic. I got inspired by button down shirts, with white collars, so that they can be used to show. For the color pallet, I was thinking about whites, grey’s, blues and browns. I also wanted to play with creating Bibs, that my costumers could use just to compete.
