NYC as a Palimpsest

When you look around in New York City, something you see a lot of is construction. New buildings being built, and old ones being demolished. Take a look past the chain link fence, covered in that plastic green material and you’ll see something so interesting! I think in that particular setting, during construction, the Palimpsest of NYC is most easily seen. The exposed walls, and the centuries of rubble being dug from the ground.  In the more residential neighborhoods, the different styles of brownstones are intermixed, and tell a story through the way they are squished together.
