Growing happens throughout everyone in one way or the other, even in the simplest forms from growing out of shoes and clothes. Without growth there would not be any progression from how you were in order to see how much confidence you have gained. For me I connect with growth in a spiritual way so I can reflect upon the decisions I want to make to help me become a better person. The “bags” that I have chosen to let go was any state of emotions that hindered me from being a better me. An example, of a “bag” I’m leaving behind is being scared. I will draw myself away from a situation that I am unsure of because I immediately become scared from trying new things. In this new state of being nineteen years old I will leave the fear behind in order for me to “pack light”, and try new things.

Process

A storyboard helped me to illustrate my vision, I was inspired by this video because the video helped me decide what shots I wanted to film. Going back to my quote and trying new things, I was open to shoeing myself in front of the camera in multiple ways. In the video I changed characters from being myself, and playing a professor. This suggestion was made by my peer Dashae and Hanna, two both thought it would be best if the character I wanted to be would dress and act like a real professor as well as being in the correct setting. I also wanted to work with my classmates Sydney, Hue Lin, Hai Tong, Sushmita, and Kenisha to make my video look more realistic. I also used the environment around to help transition my video from one event to another. In the beginning of the video I opened it up and at the end the mood changed as I reflected on my birthday and what I am looking forward to.

Conclusions

What I experienced throughout this project was how important it is to have your ideas clearly mapped out so you can have an easier time filming. Because, after you are done writing down all of your notes you can have someone with their own opinion that you could take suggestions from and you might not. I learned more about making deadlines throughout this project as well and to always have confidence in your work because, once it is presentations you want to still have the same energy that you had when you first wrote your proposal. I did well on keeping my concept simple but, I added my won sense of style to the project that made it enjoyable for me to work on and edit. Some of the failures along the way were when it came to editing the videos that I recorded I did not like the set up of my camera and what I was saying on camera because it was a lot different when you had it drawn out and paper but, there would still be other small details that you had to work with. My final was a challenge in itself because, I only had one day to shoot the entirety of my birthday so, whatever I got on camera I had to work with. Following through with your ideas is something that I learned a lot throughout this class. I think this project shows this shift because I remember during the brainstorming process I did not have a clear idea of what I wanted to show as my shift. But, with help from my professor I was able to get a clear understanding of my project and follow through until the end.
