FIELD RESEARCH:
Site Analysis:
The Union Square subway station is located underground at Union Square.
It is located where 14th street meets the Fourth Avenue.
It is a lively area with loads of shops and restaurants.
The New York university and The New School are at walking distance.
Filled with lots of different people. Lots of students.
Adjacent neighbourhoods are the Flatiron District to the north, Chelsea to the west, Greenwich
Village to the southwest, East Village to the southeast, and Gramercy Park to the east.
The subway station is always busy due to the fact that it is very well connected. The L,N,Q,R,W,4, 5
and 6 trains can be taken from this subway station.
The main entrance to the subway station has a dark green dome, people surrounding it,
street dancers, vendors and chess players.
The station has lots of other entrances as well all located at different parts of Union Square.
Demographic Analysis:
There are a lot of different aged people from different backgrounds and income levels
A lot of students due to the fact that NYU as well as the New School are located in the area. Also
quite a few high schools.
A lot of homeless people, street dancers and street vendors.
Because of the shops located in the area there would be some people who are from good financial
backgrounds as well. Those who can afford the good shops and restaurants.
Also, the fact that the station is well connected, all types of people who want to get to various
different places are located in the area.
Dog walkers who come to the Union Square park.
Parents who bring their children to play, mostly just on the weekends.
