Year 2013-2014
Exploring Life
Research on a topic of your choice, e.g., metamorphoses—be it biological, object-oriented, or of the mind—such as aging, architectural decay, ecosystems, disorders;catastrophes—natural or artificial phenomena; historicity—of life, objects, or ideas. Explore how the topic influences your life experience as a participant, voyager, and/or spectator. Explore Charles Sanders Peirce concepts of Firstness, Secondness, and Thirdness using linear and non-linear editing. Think about Deleuze “Movement Image” and“Time Image” and how it can help you create montage. *Editing in Premier.
Design a traditional book to serve as a supporting piece to the video piece, as been part of a package. Think of ways of translating the video into a two-dimensional piece. *Printed piece created in InDesign.
Deliverables: Video, printed book, complete design process.
Year 2014-2015
Write a one-page proposal explaining your idea for your final project—what will you do, why, and how. Think of a concept you are interested in and would like to explore further; media is open to your discretion but need to support/reinforce your concept.
The main goal of your final project is that you showcase the skills learned during the semester, both conceptually and technically.
