Bridge Project 1

When picking my object for this bridge project, I was thinking of objects everyone uses everyday without realizing. For example, time, we don’t realize how dependent we are towards time. However, for this project, I wanted my object to be personal as well. Everyday, I use several mirrors around my current dorm. When I wake up, I use the mirror in the bathroom as I brush my teeth. Then I move to my desk where I have a standing round mirror. Occasionally, I use the hand mirror which is with my pens. The reason why I decided to pick the hand mirror with my pens is because it’s the one I have the closest connection to. One day, I found it sitting on my mom’s vanity back home in the Philippines. I borrowed it once and ever since, I’ve been bringing this mirror to family trips, vacation’s, and now it sits in my new home, New York City. I imagined my design to be in a museum in about 20 years. This would show the mirror that has been passed down through several generations; from my mom to me and eventually my daughter. I wanted my base to be clear with plexiglass because I want the audience to focus on the mirror. I also want it to have an easy access where the audience is able to hold the mirror and use it as well. However, I believe that there can be a better way to present this mirror creating it to look stronger. And because of this, I found it most challenging to display my mirror. I found it difficult to create a design that can display my mirror representing how it has passed down from several generations.
