Self/Reveal Project

Artist Statement

My whole life I have grown up in an LDS church. I have faith in god and Jesus Christ that I could always pray and ask questions that I have. I wanted to show that I use faith in my life. In each picture I have light that represents god. I always search for the light in my life and how when we show faith in god and ourselves there is a light that guides us. Even when we feel lost we have to find the light in the world. In the first picture shows how when you read the scripture we find knowledge and answers. The next picture shows the blessings we receive. In the last two pictures is what it would be like in heaven and how no matter what we are never alone.

Museum of Moving Image reflection

In the museum there was a invention that when you spin it looks like the bird in the cage. There was two small poles. There was stings attached to each side of the poles. In the middle there is a flat wooden circle. In one side of the circle is a picture of a bird and the other side a picture of an empty cage. When you turn it around many times then let go and looks like the bird is in the cage.

In the museums there was also a cylinder that was empty in the middle. in the sides in the inside there were pictures of the same thing  or person. In between the pictures there is a rectangular hole to give the person watching it like its moving. The cylinder its on a pole that holds and spins. When you spin the cylinder you look through the sides to see it move

In the museum there is a machine that when you look inside are pictures. The pictures are like stop motion. On the outside there was a handle that you turn. When you turn the pictures insides move and if yo turn it fast it looks likes its moving.

ICP museum reflection

The composition are black and white. Also there where contrast between the clothes and background. The kids are doing things that adult would do. this was Henri Cartier-Bresson earliest project where he had to take picture for four month to finish. Bresson   was successful with this pictures because they are kids doing things adult would do. Kids are innocents and they seem like they are grown up.

in this picture there is a depth of field of two pathway. there is a man in which makes the focus on him. the man looks lonely because there is no one on the street. its very successful because of the depth of field and the man by himself. there is not really much contrast or lighting. the dark lighting makes the man seem lonely or that there is more to the story.

in this photographs its from Bresson “The decisive movement”. There is contrast in the photographs. Bresson was successful because he showed different perspectives. In one of the pictures looks like there was a bombed a the kids look like they are either fighting or playing. In another picture there are holes and there is a man near the wall.

My Flaneur project

Artist Statement

My flanuer project is about gun violence in school. There has been many gun shooting that have happen in school. Students in the united states have to have locked down drills in case someone comes in with a gun. parent send there kids to school knowing their kids are in lock down drills and have to worry if they be ok. I showed I door knob as a gun and at the end a kid because that who it affects in the end. its was a success in how fast and blrurred the picture was to show how fast gun violance is happening in schools and that and students and teachers get killed. The pictures being fast as well showing a door knob as a gun helps the audience wonder more about the picture and when you open the door you see the kid symbolizing all the kids that hide in back of lock doors in lock down drills.

Reflections on MOMA

what makes the photo successful is that the photographer was able to show that splitting the picture in half. Photographer shows how the person has a surname but ends up changing their surname. The top of the picture shows the person before they changed their names and when they did why the pictures at the bottom has descriptions. the photographer does not mentions what camera they use but most of its picture were photograph were in color.

The photographer did their picture in black and white. There were three women in different position. the models also had different expression and only one is smiling. As well as the photographer cropped some of the models. the photographer was successful in which they created a disorientation in between the images and models. the photographer shows their concept because it reminds us that individuals are different and mutable as well as inconsistent.

The photographer shows black and white pictures. They decide to have many different picture in different sizes. There were many picture of woman giving birth all over the wall cluster together but still able to see the pictures. The photographer was successful in which she was able to show new life by the woman giving birth. The photographer also showed the pain that mothers go through to bring their love one unto the earth. The photographer was probably trying to show appreciation to mothers.

Artist Statements

At first I had the theme of asking the people what was their favorite place to be in New York City and this is what they told me. They each told me where they were from and something that they liked about New York City. I had to learn that not everyone would actually want you to take a picture of them but those that did let me I got to learn their story and how not everyone is from New York, some are visiting and some are from New York.

Looking back at the photos I saw a story that represents New York City. New York City is about diversity and the people who come from all over the world to be here.

Reflections on Tony Hiss and R. Murray Schafer essays

When I read  Tony Hiss essay he was talking about looking around us and what we see. Hiss wrote about travel and what we think and see the world around us. hiss wrote that travel in the past and ancient history has meant trouble and torment. In the 21st century travel is something that has brought blessings and good things. also travel is millions of people day by day movements. also how wonder leads to different things and different passion. something that stood out is how children see things and the world differently. children’s view of wonder are exciting, fresh, and alive, while adults sort of lose it. hiss writes about that there are things we pay attention to because they bring our attention. also that there is things to learn no matter how much we know about something.

Tony Hiss essay shows that we have to look at the world around us. that we have to have wonder that could lead to other possibilities. We are always learning something. during this program I in photography I learn to see thing that can’t always be capture. Also that I could and am always learning.

R. Murray Schafer essay was about how everyone studies many thing but the sound of the landscapes/world. That to know the soundscapes you have to study the past ones first. Like a music concert except is free in which Schafer referred soundscapes. We have to listen to the sounds and since we make music ourself we could improve it. There are things that are attached to other things but produce one song or sound. Through sound we are able to have information and if we practice hearing does sounds we can then make things like maps and guides. When I am photographing I will listen to the sounds things make and the world, especially while I do videos. Maybe listening to the soundscapes gives me inspirations.

Different photographic views

In this picture I was playing with the zoom and i liked the way it came out. The picture looks like a butterfly.

I was trying to focus on the flower and have the background blurry. i tried changing the IOS and Aperture.

I was working with the zoom. I liked the way it came out. The plant looks like a forest. i decided to take a picture of the bush in zoom because                                                                                                                     it would have look nice.

I was working IOS and Aperture trying to adjust it to the light outside.

we were working on the bulk. at first we could not get the picture right then we figure out the camera was not turn on manually.

I took a picture of the building while I was getting the ISO and Aperture to the outside light. I also liked the view of the building.

I was working on the zoom. In this picture the flower as well as the plants looked like they are pop up.

I was trying to get the middle gray so i practice on the chairs. it ended up looking interesting.
