Maripol/Greer Lankton Collaboration Project

This skirt and top combo was made as a part of project combining the aesthetics of the downtown 500 artists: Maripol, and Greer Lankton. In this project we were first tasked with coming up with a textile design for the stylist famous stylist/photographer Maripol. I abstracted the shapes and colors of her polaroid photographs into a pink and blue plaid.

Once I had designed the textile, I began collaborating on designing an outfit that would combine the aesthetic influences of my artist, and my partners artist Greer Lankton. I drew up the initial sketch incorporating a heart shaped top, layered tulle skirt, and a pair of panties crudely stretched over the models bottom half. The intention of this look was to combine the styling and silhouette of Maripol looks with the glamorous and distressed nature/shapes of Lanktons work.

After coming up with the sketch, I set of constructing the heart shape top while my partner began work on the tulle skirt and panties.

At the end of the project planned and executed and editorial photoshoot for our garment; casting a model and scouting shoot locations. The location that we settled on happened to be the place where Greer Lankton originally showed her work.
