Studio 2 : Object Repetition Typology

Throughout the week, I focused on lighting, specifically linear lighting. I began looking at all the light sources I came with contact with and narrowed it down to linear light sources because they have a tendency to emit an even, continuous flow of light.

I chose to focus on lighting because it is a crucial focal point in the majority of constructed environments, whether or not the individual is receptive to it. Lighting sets the ambiance for a space, as well as serving an important purpose in our day to day life. When we shift lighting between cool and warm, and even color, we are able to elicit different experiences in the same space. That is why I find light so peculiar. By changing the brightness or color we create a new environment, meaning that we are receptive to the shift in lighting and our models of the world adjust to the environment, creating different thought processes for our realities to filter through. Maybe the shift is small enough that most might not recognize it on a conscious level, but it is still there, meaning that there is the opportunity to push the boundaries of what we already know and discover in what other ways light can transform not only our spaces but our minds.
