Good Design & Bad Design

Title:  Glass teapot in cafe

Good Design:  It’s good-looking and functional. It has a wood lid that keeps the tea warm and also it has a spiral iron block that prevent the roses from sliding out of the teapot when people are pouring tea into cup. The glass is transparent so people can see clearly how much tea are left. The grip is stable and steady, and it is distant from the body of the teapot, so people’s hand will not feel too hot when pouring tea.

Problem:

The only problem is the size of the teapot. It is a little bit large for me because when I use it, I felt heavy to handle around. The spot of the teapot is too round and does not have a sharp wave to make water go down easily. So when I finished pour the tea, some tea would spill out for a few droplets on the table which is troublesome.

I gave it a DESIGN RANK of 5 because I really love the material used and the appearance. Also I think it is easy to clean.

I give it a SUSTAINABILITY RANK of 3, because I know the workers who made the object were paid fairly with safe working conditions. It has a high probability of being recycled since it is glass-made, thus preventing it from being ‘waste’.
