DRAWING AND IMAGING
Figures in Space:
Life based figures in the same space creating depth and value.
Learning the difference between foreground, middle ground and background
Process:
Working with Patterns to understand the different scales in value, also learning techniques to create new patterns.
Patterns in Figures
After working with patterns and figures in a space, we were able to combine the new information we obtained into a new project. The result was much more interesting.
Process:
Inspiration:
Sculptures by British Sculpture Antony Gormley
Working with value and patterns. We learned how to categorize or value into a grid scale of values.
Playing with Value

FINAL PROJECT
Social Conflict: Sex Slavery
Trafficking women and children for sexual exploitation is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world.
At least 20.9 million adults and children are bought and sold worldwide into commercial sexual slavery and forced labor.
We need to educate ourselves and raise awareness to the issue in order to end sex slavery.
How to know if a person is a victim of human trafficking:
Is not free to leave or come and go as he/she wishes
Is under 18 and is providing commercial sex acts
Is in the commercial sex industry and has a pimp / manager
Is unpaid, paid very little, or paid only through tips
Works excessively long and/or unusual hours
Poor Mental Health or Abnormal Behavior
Is fearful, anxious, depressed, submissive, tense, or nervous/paranoid
Exhibits unusually fearful or anxious behavior after bringing up law enforcement
Avoids eye contact
Poor Physical Health
Lacks health care
Shows signs of physical and/or sexual abuse, physical restraint, confinement, or torture
Has few or no personal possessions
Is not in control of his/her own money, no financial records, or bank account
Is not in control of his/her own identification documents (ID or passport)
Report It
If you are a victim of human trafficking or would like to report a tip regarding suspected human trafficking, call 911 in an emergency.
- Figure/ground where you can distinguish my figures and the ground on the illustration.
- Similarity in the bricks that appear on the wall and the similarity between the bunk beds.
- Proximity in the closeness of the beds and grouping the bricks.
- Continuation appears on the top walls that intersect between each other.
- Order in the way the rooms were arranged and the poster was organized.
- My pattern value is found on the brick wall
I made the two figures in the left middle my focal point.
With my choice of color I was trying to imply a feeling of dirtiness and depression with the greens, greys and browns.
My traditional medium is color pencils, watercolors and pencil. I used digital media for adding the bricks, adding texture to the ground, editing sizes and putting the whole picture together.
