Monoprints

Having never before worked with printmaking, I was a little overwhelmed with how many possibilities there were for each piece. It was difficult to get my mind to think in “layers” and not trying to control how the final product was going to turn out. I was hesitant to experiment and just layer over more. IMG_6256this first piece I used a lot of added textures and ended up adding color before pressing the print. I didnt realize how MUCH there would be in the end – it turned out to be much busier than I imagined. So I used the same print again with less detail; IMG_6257I used more layers. After this I understood better how the levels and order of layers work, and that you can literally go over the same piece mutiple times and it’ll just add to how interesting the final piece looks! Then I wanted to experiment with simplicity and single subject layers. I started out with a netted texture and then simply added a painted feather. It produced two different looks IMG_6255I really like how many possibilities there are, I’d like to spend a whole weekend just experimenting
