The Ethnic Garment

I interviewed Yessica about Korea and the traditional Korean garment, the Hanbok.

I incorporated the dongjeong, the white collar, of the traditional hanbok into Prada’s recurring long, simple trench coat design.  Keeping with the common hanbok feature of a plainly-colored jeogori, the upper part of the hanbok, the sleeveless trench coat’s outer layer is one color with no pattern, while the inside lining of the coat is red, like the lining of Prada’s coats often are.  Though not completely shown in the illustration, the bottoms are pleated wide-legged pants which mimic the gathered fabric of the upper chima, the outer skirt in traditional hanbok, that keep in line with Prada’s straight, sleek lines.

Unfortunately, I was unable to acquire so much information about each fabric.

The Pinterest board is clear and focused. I’m glad you stuck to a smaller number of pins and didn’t over collect images. Another way you can unify the Pinterest board is through color. Remember the one we looked at in class from Diane Keaton? https://www.pinterest.com/keatondiane/a-different-stripe/ What works about this is the color choice is consistent throughout, so that even though the images come from different sources and are of a variety of objects, they look visually connected.

Your design work reflects the dual influences (Hanbok & Prada) well and the materials seem very appropriate for your concept.

I’m glad you included the design drafts here, because they shed some light on the structure of your design.
