Ethical Considerations

A:Problem draws attention to the simultaneous infantilization of women and sexualization of girls in both society and in the media.  Beautiful women are often depicted in childish manners, implying that youth is attractive, while girls are pushed to look and act older and sexier in order to be considered pretty.  In the Sixth Street and Avenue B community garden, girls, women, and other members of society interact and influence each others’ ideals.

B:Solution solves the problem of old, no-longer-wearable clothing.  Old clothing can be recycled without chemical processing.  The user chooses the template that they want, like a purse, a hat, or a dress, pick the old article of clothing that they want each numbered part to be made out of, and have a brand new garment made from their unwanted clothes.  It is almost like a “paint by numbers.”  The members of the Sixth Street and Avenue B community garden take care of the garden themselves; they choose which plants to grow and cultivate each year in the soil that the old ones died in, similar to the way users may choose the components of their new piece of clothing.

Very interesting ideas and I like the connections you are making to the garden.
