INTERVIEW–Vanya

I interviewed my roommate Vanya.  Here’s some information about her:

Vanya

She’s 19, and she’s a student at the School of Visual Art, major in Photography. She is my roommate and also my high school classmate and we used to work in the same studio.

Before the interview, I asked her to give me a little tour in her room and tell me something about what she wears and how she works.

When I asked her to show me one of her favorite wearings, this was what she showed me. Bright green shirt with 4 different buttons and incredible texture.

A pair of shoes that’s on her floor.

A white coat that she was wearing on the day I interviewed her.

Her wardrobe.

INTERVIEW:

Q: When did you started to give thoughts on what you wear and how would you describe your style if you could?

A: I think I started to pay attention on what I’m wearing and how people will see me when I was in high school. Even though we have uniforms but I always tried to have fun with it and make changes to my uniforms, that was just a fun thing to do. (Silence… thinking) I don’t know how to describe my style, but I think I’m the kind of person who only owns a few pants but tons of shirts, maybe texture is what I’m looking for when I’m dressing up.

A black pant of hers.

Q: What makes you happier? People compliment  your looking or your taste of wearings?

A: They both make me happy (Laughing…), but it might depends. I don’t like people calling me cute or pretty, I don’t feel like that is a compliment. But it would make me really happy if somebody I don’t know can understand what I’m wearing, and see how I wanted to be seen.

Q: What is the ‘gender’ of your wearings?

A: Ah, I don’t wear girly wearings, like skirts, pink shirts… I think I’m more a uni-sex wearer.

Q: But would you wear men’s wearings?

A: Yes.

Q: How do you keep your wearings?

A: (Giggles and points the floor)

Q: Do you think you would be the same style as you are right now if you don’t have a Instagram, or any other social media?

A: I think yes, because we would still have magazines, but magazine is kind of more general and for everyone… I think using Instagram kind of broadened my vision, but everyone want to be different and end up the same, I think I developed this (Her style) because those are what makes me the most comfortable.
