For this Me & Sustainability project, I collected scrap fabrics after my fashion major project and created this dress with patchwork, and extension piece that has snap on it. So you can put it on and take it off. Because the fabrics were all in different shapes and different sizes, I decided to do the patchwork because it creates most of it out of little thing. It looks nice but with a small fabric, so I thought it is closer to my sustainable theme. I came up with this idea because for the last project, I used threads, yarns, and little scraps of fabric but the semester towards the end, I had leftover fabric from my major class. So I decided to put them together as a garment so I am reusing what I have left and creating designer aspect. I had fun while I was working on this dress because not only I was happy that I’m reusing the fabric that are left, but also challenging myself to create a piece in such a limited resource and limited time.
