Concept
I did a simple dress for my pattern. I want to understand the component part of a dress, because I’m going to do a dress for my final project.
I’m going to add a zipper and a ribbon to the pattern. The muslin is not as flexible as the original dress I chose, so it may need some change to be adjustable.
My topic research is about fashion in New York, so I used some modern designs to make it an urban style.
I learned how to design the shape of each part of the dress and to sew it from inside.
The tracing part went smoothly, but the challenging part is to sew them together. Especially on how to sew the zipper, I spent a long time to figure out the composition.
The techniques of sewing the separate parts together and the sequence of sewing them is really helpful.
