Describe your interests and strengths based on your experiences in studio and seminar this semester. What did you learn about yourself? What do you enjoy making? What are you excited to learn more about?
Through this semester I have done a lot of projects and also learned a lot. Base on my experiences in studio and seminar, I have learned a lot of skills about how to think differently, and I think it became one of my strength. I tried to make everything artistic, and after succeed and failure, I could always learn more and develop the thinking. It was also the fun part of projects. The idea is the soul of every project, and any objects are valuable when it is imbued with meaning. Even though my handcraft skill is not as high, I use exciting ideas to make it up. To make the project as many meanings as possible, I tried to imbued meanings in materials, forms, structures, and colors. It was very successful that if an object is filled with deep thoughts, ideas and opinions, the object becomes an art. After all the explanation the project could be developed and be meaningful enough as an art. I enjoy using wax to make crafts because it is hard to form, easy to break, and meltable. The was the best material to present time and past. I wanted to learn more about the ways of making and forming wax projects.

Describe one dream project that you’d like to work on some day. What would you create and why? What materials would you work with? What kind of research would you need to complete before working on this? What kind of experience or training would you need? Would you work with anyone? If so, with whom would you work? Where would you showcase or display your project? What kind of audience might it attract?

The dream project I wanted to work is the exhibition of an experiential room with a wall-size clock. I always wanted to show time in my works, and the dream is to use my work to explain the definition of time as bright as possible through art. The material I would like to use is wax. As I said before, I think wax is the best material to show time. The technique can only be shown once because I am thinking to make an actual clock and all the gears are made of hard wax. At the beginning of the exhibition, the clock is moving and all the gears spinning, and we could hear and experience the tranquility of the room with the sounds of the clock. Then we heat the wax slowly to make the clock melt and not able to move anymore. The sound of the clock will be stopped, and we can see each part of the gear fall. For this project, I have to learn how does the clock work. If possible, I want to finish the whole art by myself, and it would be a goal for myself. I am thinking not to display the art in galleries but in the library or the similar places that are the quiet public place because I could attract everyone no mater if they think artistically. When different people are watching the art, they all think differently about is and that makes my art live in millions of minds differently and imbued with different meaning.
