Soft Structure : Sustainable Considerations

Soft Structure : Sustainable Considerations

Sustainable Considerations – 1 and 1/2 yards only

  • Look 1 : The main idea is to minimize cutting down to one or two. Only use one cut, which divides top and bottom or only use two cuts, which divides top, sleeve and bottom. Both of the fabrics are golden and very stretchy. The design is basically cocktail dress which reminds me of modernized Athena armor because of its golden color.
  • Look 2 : I got the inspiration from an arm armor, which has wide cover of whole arm part. the pattern is only straight lines which can collapse with each edge so it can minimize the left-over fabric. The fabric choice is camouflage pattern of vinyl fabrics, which doesn’t get wrinkles easily and strong.
  • Look 3 : This look is also inspired by armor like Look 2 but more like medieval armor. The idea is to cut fabrics into long strap and put it together to make an garment. So it seems like bunch of straps are forming the dress. The fabrics I chose for this look are rather thick and strong like leather and compressed fabrics.
  • Look 4 : The idea for Look 4 is that since it’s sustainable considerations, it doesn’t have any cut. Just drape one and half yard for the garment. The garment is very flowy so most of the fabrics are stretchy satin. The color is all pastels because the designs reminds me of flowers.
  • Look 5 : This look’s original inspiration is from actual fabric. I saw really interesting fabric that front side is pink color and back side is black color. I thought that I could use both of color, while buying just one fabrics. Since it’s hot pink and black, it reminds me of pin-up girl style so I got the inspiration from Moschino and Jean Paul Gaultier’s haute couture shows.
