Two page spread

Creating my own avatar, I was torn between creating a character exactly like me, and creating a character of who I want to be. I chose to combine the two concepts. In my research for this project, I became very interested in the Native American culture and their use of spirit animals. I wanted to combine my character’s human qualities with the character of one of these spirit animals. I chose the wolf because it represents power, leadership and intelligence, all qualities that I wanted to be represented in my avatar. My avatar has the ears and tail of a wolf but is still in human form. She is approachable in a sense that she is still human, but her qualities of domination and power come across in her wolf-like features.I chose to name my avatar Nuna, which means ‘land’ in Native American culture, because she is very devoted to the sacredness of land and the preservation of the earth. Nuna is very connected to nature and makes it her goal to incorporate it into her style.
