PUFY 1201
This course immerses students in a study of the human figure through projects that investigate both its form and its capacity to carry meaning within various cultural contexts. Perceptual observation, analytical structure, anatomy, motion, relationship to object, space, and other will be explored through a variety of techniques used to explore the body as the site for messages that range from the personal to the political. How do we utilize visual perception through-line, value, and color? Why does this analogous experience have content and meaning? How does an ethnographic focus help us respond to the visual world and ourselves? These questions and more will be explored and answered through discussion, critique, and research.
