PUFY 1240
In this course students learn analytical, and modeling techniques for representing abstract concepts, physical space and objects. The focus of this course is on the use of representation within design practice as a form of problem solving. Students work individually in workshop environments on projects to develop strength in modeling in a variety of media. The skills will be applicable to their core studio work in the first year and within their discipline. Students will add to the demonstration of perceptual and visual awareness in the Space and Materiality studio by developing strength in the distinct modeling skills and materials that will be required in second year courses within the school of constructed environments. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of a multiplicity of constructed scales – micro, human, structural, and urban, in both abstract and concrete ways.
Materials Costs:
Students should expect to spend approximately $50-75 for material supplies.
