Reflection for Bridge 1 Part 1

Reflection for Bridge 1 Part 1

This assignment asked me to find seven images base on the theme I have chosen. There are four themes that I can choose; which is

  • Identity (e.g., branding, personhood, heritage, emotion)
  • Gender (e.g., sex, androgyny, LGBTQX, oppression)
  • Race (e.g., immigration, oppression, bias)
  • Environment (e.g., climate change, sustainability, urban planning)

I chose “Environment” as my theme which I need to explore through the whole semester.
We required to have three of those images must come from online research, two images from the “streets” of NYC, and two images from MoMA. Furthermore, we need to use Photoshop or Illustrator, highlight or circle as many of the formal elements and principles of art I can find on each image. Be creative in organization /highlight/circle the layout, refer to examples of past student work I showed in class.

And today, 4th Feb we did a class workshop of sharing the pictures we have found and critique on the mapping. The purpose of this assignment was to explore my theme, practicing of mapping on the artworks and photography, and practicing critiquing. I learned how to do mapping on the Illustration, which is a new thing to me and I am will to try different things in this art area. And I am sure that I am able to use this skill a lot in my future career and I found it is a productive way to annalize artworks. In my opinion, the most important part of this assignment is the critique part. It is about the interaction between the artworks, photographs, classmates, and professor; And developing my speaking skill.
