Above is a visual proposal for a potential public artwork in Union Square, NYC. Different views of the area (created with Photoshop and Illustrator) bring to life the idea.

The artwork addresses Google’s dominance over the public and the way they use the Internet has completely altered the way we have come to gain our knowledge. Youth today has a minimal scope to accept education into their lives without the aid of a screen in front of them giving them exactly what they want. There is a vast amount of reading online for anyone to access but our ability to interpret has been demolished. Literature is not a dying art but rather literacy.

Below are a link to a formal writeup and a presentation on further aspects of design and elements behind the piece itself.

An Infographic is a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data.I chose the topic of Killer Whales, specifically the location of these mammals throughout United States waters as well as where they are being held captive in parks throughout the country. I created my own ‘pie graphs’ showing information regarding captive Orcas. There is a key in the left bottom corner showing the difference between captive and wild whales on the map. The size of the whales varies with the amount in the pod in that location. I also added facts about Orcas throughout the center of the map.
