As the project is stepping out from the research and inspiration stage, the importance of iteration became more and more important. Prototyping and testing out became the priority mission. Also, since this is a project about symbol making, I think it is important to hone my designs into visually appealing, but yet distinctive symbols.
. To come up with the final product of the whole project, I came up with this process map:
The above process flowchart is my mindset of this project. Before having a good design, I understand I should have dozens of bad designs first. After iterative experiments, I provide myself sufficient choices to choose from:
The above pictures are the various thumbnails that I made before I decided how should my finals look like. The left one is a design I did not use at last- i was planning to cutout a pointing hand with a bended finger( to represent the confusing directions people gave us). I find it too hard to illustrate accurately( looked like Elvis’s side view instead). The middle ones are developments of one of my final design. Again, I tried to depict the confusion brought by the locals. This time I used another approach, simply using arrows to show the directions. However, after I had a deeper thought, I decided to make them look more abstract by cropping away the basic form of an arrow.
Hey exceptional website! Does running a blog such as
this require a lot of work? I have virtually no understanding of coding but I was hoping to start
my own blog soon. Anyhow, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog
owners please share. I understand this is off subject but I just wanted to ask.
Appreciate it!
