Apparatus

Apparatus

  • The technical equipment or machinery needed for a particular activity or purpose
  • Early 17th century: Latin, from apparare ‘make ready for’, from ad- ‘towards’ + parare ‘make ready’

Strolling around the city since I moved to Paris happens to be one of my favourite activity. During my stay in Milan I came across Apparatus for the first time. It was nice, snowy night, very pleasant for a walk. Me and my friend, visited Brera, one of my favourite parts of Milan and while heading home, I noticed a beautifully lighted, showroom space. It easily  grabbed my attention. It had this nice loft vibe. The walls were  ivory and the floor was dark green. This surrounding featured very modern and original lamps that were louring passer-byes. The space was very different from all galleries and interior design places I visited that day, probably because of it seductive atmosphere. The first room was basically empty, only one chair was  left in the corner. The other room however, had a cumulation of their signature lamps  and decorations that are really impressive.  The use of marble, suede , horsehair, lacquer, pastel colours and raw design juxtaposed together created an unforgettable image. So just after I came back I did some research to find more about this mysterious brand.  Apparatus, founded  by Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson is a modern design studio that links together modernity and sensuality with craftsmanship. This apparatus is definitely something one day  I wish to have home.
