Space and Materiality Assignment #9: Straw Polyhedron

For this assignment, we were to create a polyhedra out of straws and use mechanical connectors to join it together. Besides the regular paper polyhedrons, I found the straw material easier to create the shape than the cardboard due to the ability to manipulate the straws easier. It was also interesting to me how there was no need to make a an inner part for the sides to connect to each other. I also enjoy the playfulness and color aspect of this assignment. The only issue I have with my final project was using the wire as the mechanical connector. This is because it was too hard for the bendable straw making it difficult to bend and connect them without distorting the shape. Overall, I found this assignment fun and a different way to create polyhedrons which I was not aware of before.
