Blockchain for Kids

My 5 in 5 project involves explaining Blockchain to 5 different age groups, based on their level of understanding, and using the media they understand the most. Blockchain for kids is the first video from this 5 part series of explaining blockchain.

Put simply, blockchain is a way to do a trade. Kids have a primitive understanding of the world. So, to explain blockchain, I started explaining to them the concept of trade, record keeping, and record verification. Since these are essential elements of a trade, blockchain builds on these. To make the concept relatable, I created a visual narrative in the form of a storybook to explain this concept.

The Process

You must see the world through the eyes of a kid to know what they would understand the most. To ensure what I was explaining was relevant and relatable to the kids, I had to do a decent bit of brainstorming.

The idea from conceptualization to finalization took a series of steps. Since this is the first part of my five-part series of blockchain explanation, here are some images of the initial bits of brainstorming I had done on this project, to give it this shape. Note that some of the images reflect the work done on other age groups since I had to divide what part of the topic I wanted to cover for the kids.

 

Note: Blockchain is a very vast concept, and the references I used for understanding and simplifying Blockchain are valid for all the parts of my project. The primary references I have used were the YouTube videos and TED talks. I will share the links to the same (and the rest of the references) in the final part of this project.
