Major Studio 1 Assignment

About Me

The one thing you would want to know about me is that I am super organized, so much so that my friends say that I have an OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) for cleanliness and organization.

Case in point, I cannot bear the sight of fingerprints on my iPhone and iPad screen guards. So, I clean my screens over 15-20 times a day (courtesy: microfiber cloth).

During our first Major Studio 1 class, we were asked to create a visual representation of ourselves, with the entire process divided into 3 parts: create a story of yourself (On Paper), make a video out of it (On Screen), and do a real-life representation of it (Sculpture).

On Paper

I like to learn and share simplified versions of my understanding with everyone. So, I made a story of me studying in class – understanding a technical topic and breaking it down into simpler parts to create my version of the knowledge. The image below shows my story of learning and simplifying:

On Screen

For the video, I created a visual narrative of the storyboard explaining how I learn and then simplify my understanding. Further introspection led me to realize that I have a knack for simplicity, organization, and management, and I do that in everyday life.

Sculpture (Real-Life)

I found several real-life examples inside the DT building of “stuff” I wanted to correct – crumpled sheets of paper that I straightened up, messed-up almirah that I organized, crooked signage that I fixed, and a filled whiteboard that I cleaned.

While I was correcting and simplifying stuff that I found out of place, I realized that this was a habit which came subconsciously to me. I liked it when things were in order and well maintained.

Here is a video showing the same:

Special thanks to Mohini Dutta (MS1 faculty) who really helped me understand the assignment objective.
Credits to my friends Bohan Chen, Fan Marin, Waverly Wilson, Nuomeng Zhang, and Sweksha Sinha from MFADT who helped me shoot the video and generate real-life examples helping me with my introspection.
