For my final project in Drawing/Imaging, I wanted to run with the theme of a tattoo artist because the art they create is similar in style to what I love to do. I decided to mix hands-on illustrations and photography to depict my art on skin. It gives the drawings themselves an extra dimensionality, and I can take advantage of working with a different medium and material. Originally, I was going to display the photographs in a hand-crafted book to bear resemblance to an artist’s portfolio, but I decided that I wanted all the photographs laid out next to each other to show the consistency in style and theme. I used Micron pen and ink and Adobe Photoshop, where I used the magic wand tool to make the image transparent to transfer onto the photographs. Because the lines from the drawings were thick, the selection was clean and easy. After transferring the image, I adjusted the size and scale so that it fit on the body. Then I edited the opacity of the tattoos, as well as used the photo effect ‘Darken’ so that they blended in with the skin tone. Lastly, I played around with the warp tool to adjust the corners so that they worked in perspective. I enjoyed this project the most, it was fun seeing my art come to life by displaying them on the body, as well as play around with the tools on Adobe.
