For my final project, I used gouache acrylic, pen & ink and glitter on wood panel to depict a lo-fi, gritty sex playroom of female monsters. I used the four nouns: gimp mask, dog, creature, and bowl. I wanted to work with the concept of the ‘Monstrous Feminine,’ horror tropes and sexual paraphernalia. Often, in film and literature, the female body is used as an object of shame and disgust. In this project, I wanted to depict all the elements of what’s considered ‘culturally taboo’ (especially for stigmatized female sexuality) and normalize it, placing them in a casual setting.
